On the Water in NC :: Original Artwork
Moving on and through the water, wind in the sails, now billowing, straining forward, then slack with need the sailboat is like a living thing – a living, moving sculpture.
No two moments on the water are the same, each transient, fleeting, and to be lived in completely. Living in the moment and trying to capture that moment of movement and completeness, that fleeting sense of time, is what I am drawn to paint.
The play of light, shadows, the sense of movement, present and past memories, mysteries, and yes, even ghosts of moments past, lost. These elements blend to become the core of my paintings.
